It’s easy to forget that summer can wreak havoc on our skin…until it inevitably does. Luckily, OLO Founder Suzanne LeRoux knows a thing or two about sun and heat protection and is sharing her top summer skincare tips with us!
Born and raised in Georgia with two active young boys, Suzanne is all about spending time outdoors—particularly in the summer months when the beach calls and the baseball field beckons. Here is Suzanne’s favorite advice for soaking up the sun while warding off its damaging effects.
I’m all for sunscreen—apply a quality broad spectrum SPF daily to combat those solar rays. But, don’t forget antioxidants because they are mother nature’s natural defenders. For my face, I layer our Vitamin C Facial Serum on very damp skin and then I apply my SPF.* The serum is gentle and works great on my super sensitive skin, but it’s also potent and, combined with sunscreen, helps keep my skin pampered while having fun in the sun.
For my entire body, I apply our Gardenia + Tea Antioxidant Body Serum as soon as I get out of the shower onto very damp skin. Light and refreshing, it helps keep my skin moisturized all day so I can face environmental stressors from head to toe without worry. It smells heavenly and makes applying additional SPF a breeze! No tugging and pulling at your skin to apply sunscreen.
When I feel like a mid-day pick-me-up during those long summer days, I spritz with Vitamin D Moisture Mist. The scent is instantly uplifting, the cool mist feels divine and best of all, it supplies lasting hydration with an instant dewy glow. I never leave home without this in my handbag.
There you have it: expert tips for keeping your skin soft and supple during the dog days of summer. Now, go enjoy the beach (or the ball field) in all its glory!
*For those of you who want to know, I use a mineral powder with SPF. One of my favorites is Jane Iredale’s Powder-Me Dry Sunscreen.
